Back To TopDESIGNER: Marko Macura and Ingerborg van Uden Marko Macura was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1971. He lived in New York in the '80s, where he began his undergraduate studies at the Rhode Island school of design. His education continued at the Art Center college of Design (Europe) in Switzerland. Upon completion with honors, Marko moved in 1994 to the Netherlands, where he began his professional activities at Philips Design, Eindhoven. He obtained various awards such as the IF award, Goed Industrial Ontwerp award, and the Australian Design Award. Since 1998 he focused on visionary and strategic projects at Philips Design. In 2007 Macura was awarded the first prize by Alcantara, under the chairmanship of Giulio Cappellini, for the design 'Angolo' designed in collaboration with Ingeborg Van Uden. In January, 2002 Marko established his studio in the Netherlands, 'Marko Macura Design'. The studio focuses on creative design solutions for the furniture and lighting industries as well as interior and consumer electronic design. Culturally diverse settings in which he lived during the formative and professional years enriched his views and sensibilities. His mission is to create ideas and objects, which are inspired by a constant reflection on our lives and lifestyles. Marko devotes a part time schedule as creative director for Philips Design as well as devoting time to teaching. Ingeborg Van Uden is a graphic designer by training. In 2005, after several years of professional design experience, Ingeborg started her independent activities creating her own practice for aesthetic trend consultancy. Optimism, travel, curiosity and a profound interest in people and their relationships with objects and spaces are among some main driving forces and inspiration in her work. In addition she collaborates with designers inspiring and working together with them on various projects. Amongst others, her clients include Philips Design, Teague, Sigma coatings, United Nations EEC and Design Academy Eindhoven.
