DESIGNER: Piero Lissoni
Piero Lissoni, born in 1956, started his career as designer in 1978. Having obtained his degree in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, in 1985 he started working with Boffi Cucine as art director and designer. Together with Nicoletta Canesi, he founded the Lissoni Associati studio (1986) and Graph.x (1992) in Milan, developing industrial and graphic design plans, interior designs and architecture in addition to his work in art direction, public relations and image consulting. Amongst his Customers appear: Cappellini, Cassina, Boffi, Matteograssi, Lema, Living Divani, Porro, IrenUffici and Wella. His "Esprit" and "WK6" kitchen designs, prepared for Boffi, were judged as winners of the "Golden Callipers" Award in 1991 and 2001 respectively – and he has crafted the image of numerous projects, in particular that of trade fair stands and showrooms for Italian and foreign companies. His projects continuously take him around the world: for Boffi alone Lissoni has designed showrooms in Milan, Paris and London, New York, L.A., Miami and Hong Kong. In addition to numerous design assignments (amongst others, for Kartell, Alessi and Flos/Antares), Lissoni has recently been assigned an increasing number of projects, including private houses and luxury hotels, both in Italy and abroad - from Venice ("Monaco and Grand Canal") and Zurich ("Al Porto"), to Istanbul ("Bentley" design hotel) and Bangkok. Since January 2003 Lissoni Peia Associati, born from the partnership with the Milan studio of Giampiero Peia, supports Lissoni Associati and Graph.x in the development and expansion of the architecture department. Amongst the projects undertaken by the Lissoni Peia Associati studio are the following: a residential tower in Shanghai, a factory and office complex for Living Divani, the showrooms of Cassina IXC in Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya, stands and preparations for Chrysler-Jeep, a residential block in Milan, the municipal library in Fidenza, a residential complex in Gallarate, a tourist complex on Lake Maggiore, with rooms, hotel, sports centre, conference centre, restaurants, yachting club and shore front.
