Kubikoff Vivace Table / Pouf

A stool can be the most multi-functional piece of furniture in a house. Used as a seat, a table, or stepping ladder, it is open for adaptation and interpretation. Jutta enhances this flexibility via the stool’s playful, flip top design, providing a smoothly lacquered hard side with a soft, upholstered alternative on the reverse, allowing for a wide range of colour and material combinations. The contrast of the matte wood against the shiny lacquer further emphasizes the dynamic energy generated by the uneven spacing of the stool’s spokes and its hovering effect.

DESIGNER: Jutta Friedrichs (2009)

Jutta Friedrichs is a creative designer. Her designs, minimal yet with a strong abstract reference to nature, reflect the contrasts that she has encountered during her life in China. In her works she uses sleekly manufactured surfaces next to natural materials. Through this juxtaposition she strives to energize everyday environments. Jutta moved to Shanghai in 2005 to co-found the design department of a Dutch gifts and retail company, where she was recognized for her imaginative work with two Red Dot Design awards. She left behind a position as project manager, designing high-end Italian kitchens in London. Previously, she worked with the established UK furniture designer Michael Sodau. Today Jutta is the creative force and involved in many activities in Shanghai, as a founding member of [the studio], a creative collective and as a volunteer design lead for D4D (Design for the Disadvantaged). Her design efforts have just been rewarded with the" Elle Decoration International Design Award ". Born in Cologne, Germany in 1979, Jutta graduated 2004 in Product Design from the Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London. In design as in life, the multi-linguist draws inspiration from around the world trough her extensive travels, which has taken her to 35 countries so far.
