Rexite

For forty years Rexite has been operating in the sector of furniture and accessories. As well as the classic office furniture and accessories, its collections include chairs and stools, tables and desks, bookcases, coat hangers, wall clocks and much more. Initially the main objective was to create office furniture and accessories which did not conform to pre-established formulas. Thanks to their creative originality, the special attention given to the quality of materials and their functional efficiency, Rexite's objects soon caught the attention of the public and in just a few years the small, dynamic firm became a leader in its sector. Thanks to the global appreciation of its products, Rexite subsequently started to extend its innovative vitality and its technological resources also to the furnishing of public spaces and private homes. Nowadays Rexite's exports account for more than 70% of its total production. The company's original vocation for encouraging unexpected and ironic aspects without ignoring functionality, research on materials and respect for the environment continues to reflect the company's philosophy, which may be summed up in a few words: to create objects which are simple but not banal, original but not bizarre. The person who has designed the majority of our items is Mr Raul Barbieri: Raul Barbieri was born in Milan in 1946. After having taken his degree in Architecture at Milan's Polytechnic, he started to work initially as a professional associate; in 1989 he founded his own practice in Milan which specialised in design, corporate identity and architectural planning. The design and realisation of a neighbourhood of semi-detached houses in Milan - in the Citt Studi area -, which in 1999 was presented in London on the occasion of the exhibition 'Golden Compass ADI Architectural Design', date back to this period. Barbieri has co-operated with various design schools and has held short courses on design at the 'Ecole Nationale Suprieure de Cration Industrielle, LES ATELIERS' of Paris and the European Design Institute of Milan. He has had a long-standing co-operation with ADI, the Association for Industrial Design in his capacity as co-ordinator of the department of designers. Many of his designs have been awarded prizes or selected in major international design competitions.
